It’s really an amazing thing to have every color of cosmetic in your makeup collection. Most women cannot do without buying several shades of lipsticks or eye shadows that will go with their shades of clothing. It can be difficult to maintain an impressive and organized makeup collection. Sometimes we have excessive cosmetics that we don’t even know what to do with them. There is nothing as frustrating as searching for a lipstick and eyeliner when you need it. The best way around this is to have a makeup storage kit or organizer that will make it easy to find what you need every time.
Instead of spending so much to get an organizer or storage kit, you can spend little or no money to create one for yourself. Here are 6 DIY makeup organizing solutions that’ll change your whole beauty regimen.
1. DIY Empty Candle Jar
This is a creative DIY involving the use of old candle jars to create makeup organizer. If you have used and old candle jars at home, you can make use of them. Simply remove the candle wax by popping it out or placing the candle in the freezer. When it freezes, the wax will shrink and it will be easy to remove. After removing the wax, clean the glass jar with soap and warm water to remove all other waxy deposits, most especially the residues from burnt wax outside the jar. The jar must be clean and spotless without any oily residue. Place the jars together to form a pyramid. Then, simply bond each jar with a glue. You can use high-performance glue or glues suitable for glass surfaces. Press the jars together so that they can glue together.
Materials required: Old candle jars, soap and warm water, and glad glue.
2. Recycle Plastic Bottles
You use plastic bottles to make a makeup organizer. Instead of throwing those plastic bottles away, you can convert them into a small storage container. Gather the number of bottles based on the number of containers you need. Place a rubber band around the plastic bottle at the desired height and mark it with a marker. The rubber band stands as a guide to draw a straight-line so that it will be easy to cut with a knife. Turn on your electric iron and use it to melt the cut edge of the plastic bottle. The iron must not be too hot. The sharp edge will fold in to create a rounded and smooth edge. You can spray them with several colors of paints or leave them like that. Then, your makeup organizer is ready and you can fill it up with your makeup collections.
Materials required: Plastic bottles, rubber band, colored marker, knife, electric iron, and colorful paint spray.
3. Mason Jar Brush Holder
This DIY idea is very easy and cheap if you have plain mason jars at home. There is always some lying around the house. Take a jar and wrap it with a craft felt sheet and use scissors to cut to size. Use hot glue to bond the felt sheet on the mason jar, make sure it glues smoothly. Once you have done that, you can start decorating it. Use different types of glitter glue or glitters and spread it on the felt. If you are using ordinary glitters, you will need to spray glue on the craft felt so that the glitters can stick. You should ensure that the glitters lay flat on the craft felt. You can then add some sparkles too. After its completely dry, you can dust off the glitters and sparkles that didn’t stick. You can be creative with this DIY. You can add some filler beads and some ribbons. After you are done, you can place your makeup brushes in the jar.
