Forgiveness is your decision to unleash anger, bitterness, hurts and feelings of vengeance. It is a great thing to forgive because it gives you a piece of mind. If you don’t have the ability to forgive one another, whatever you try to put together in this life will certainly fall into pieces.
Forgiveness means to renounce anger. It can be difficult because it involves trying to give an excuse for an offense committed by the person – who wronged you. Not everyone can easily give an excuse to such offense because it will mean that the person who offended you is not responsible for their actions somehow.
It is hard to forgive but you just have to do it
Many people find it hard to forgive, they have made the practicality for cruelty, hatred, harshness, brutality and ruthlessness as their guiding principles. They believe that their victory in life depends on it. Yes, you might have been deeply hurt and the wounds could have given you scars that would always remind you of what happened. However, it is always good to let go and embrace peace. Any intention to even the score with somebody for a genuine reason and assumption or even for a wrong reason are rebounds, which will always bounce back to you.
Forgiveness is a choice
As the forgiver, you have to be ready to forgive before you can take that step. Your feelings will often be based on irrational thoughts and the pain you are getting from the hurt. The pain you are experiencing may prompt feelings of hatred and sometimes, low self-worth and you can start blaming yourself for the wrongs that you have suffered. So, you will need to make a choice to break free from the painful ties that bind you to the offense and move past it. Genuine forgiveness begins with self-acceptance. Sometimes, the pain doesn’t go, there may be a scar that will always remind you of the pain, but it will be your personal choice to forgive the person and move on.
Forgiveness gives peace of mind
If you hold grudges or even conceal a feeling of resentment, if you keep wicked judgment and crave to cause hurt another person, you may be the one to get hurt in the long run. Moreover, trying to get your own pound of flesh by revenging will not give you peace of mind. When you can see beyond your pain and the inhumanity of the person who wronged you, you will be able to forgive and you will find happiness, love, joy and peace of mind.
You can’t build your life on reproach, it will destroy you completely. When you are able to forgive, you will be happy. Disgust, hatred, hostility, enmity and hard feelings cannot live a split second in the aura of the spirit of forgiveness and love. Forgiveness melts and softens all resentments; love neutralizes all anger and fury.
Like the saying goes; “It is good to forgive but best to forget”. Today, people are ready to forgive but not to forget and that is not what forgiveness is all about. If you still hold the grievance in your mind after you claimed to have forgiven, your hearts will still be disturbed and restless; and that means your heart has not yet or fully forgiven. Therefore, when you forgive, you should also forget completely.
By forgiving and forgetting, your heart will be kept pure and you will enjoy peace and good health. If you are holding grudges against anyone, it is time to let go or else, you will wallow in unhappiness and sorrow. Forgive, forget and love one another! They are the perfect recipes to living a peaceful and happy life.
