One of the reasons for so many failures in our lives can be attributed to our inability to plan effectively. Many people aspire to succeed, but they journey in the road of failure. If we are going to find success, we must pay the price by planning effectively. If we fail to plan our work and organize our efforts, we can never achieve our goals.
There can be no development without a plan. A plan must be made if we really want to reach our destination. Success doesn’t just happen; the greater successes of life are all according to a plan and design. Planning always precedes the building. There is always a “paper castle” before you can build a “real castle”. Even though it is good to construct visualize structures in our dreams, it is very important to write them down and have a detailed plan on how to build the real structures. When you plan, you are giving your idea or project a solid foundation.
Why we fail to plan
In this day and age, people who don’t plan are known as “fence sitters”. They always have half-a-mind to do something, but they never get around to having a “whole mind” to do anything. When you don’t plan, it can be said you are not even sure of your idea. You can’t make a decision, and this is a sign of weakness that you need to overcome if you are ever to be successful in getting the rich treasures of life.
Sometimes, the reason why we fail to plan may be that we are afraid we will make mistakes or may not actually achieve what we plan. The thing is, everyone makes mistake. Edison failed about ten thousand times before he completed the incandescent lamp perfectly. When someone said to Edison that ten thousand failures were really a bad record, he replied: “I didn’t fail ten thousand times, I successfully eliminated ten thousand things that wouldn’t work”. A plan serves as a guide, when you see things are not working according to your plan, you can re-strategize. Then you can do better than before.
Undoubtedly we are going to make mistakes or fail, so what? Why risk failing when you can even plan to avoid it? The solution lies in carefully striving to be confident in your ideas, make plans and forge ahead. Even if you make mistakes, it’s just one wrong play, the game is not yet over.
Alan Lakein said, “Planning is bringing the future into the present so that you can do something about it now”. Planning is the graveyard of good ideas when we back up our ideas with a plan, we will definitely get the right action and achieve our goals successfully.
How not to be a failure
Firstly, we need to come to plan, when we do this, it becomes easier for us to work out our birthright. Work without a plan invites failure. “If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail!”, said Benjamin Franklin. A plan helps you to know how to go about your work. If you don’t have a plan, you may not achieve your goal. “If you don’t know where you are going, you’ll end up someplace else,” said Yogi Berra.
Lack of planning is a fitting inscription over the grave of many of our failures. Along any path in life, development must be preceded by planning. Success is almost always assured when we plan or seek advancement with our plans.
Disney World was built based on Walt Disney’s original plans. Walt had planned out all the lands, to every detail. If Walt had not written or designed his plans, his dream and vision of Disney world wouldn’t have come into realization today.
Every great achievement in the history of the world was first written down or designed as a plan. Your wishes can not be fulfilled unless you back them with a plan. When we plan, we can live beyond our expectations, and our efforts will be crowned with success, sooner than we have imagined it.
The greater successes in life are reserved for those who plan their journey, follow the plans, which lead them straight to the goal. Devise a plan to help you organize your work and increase its efficiency. It will help you spend time on the most important things, rather than wasting your time and resources.
